NOTICE OF WASTEWATER SPILL
In accordance with Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) regulations, this is notice that on Friday, December 12, 2025, at approximately 7 pm a wastewater spill was discovered at 1523 SK Blvd., Commerce, GA.
City utility staff responded immediately and found that the spill occurred due to a blockage in the gravity sewer line. It is estimated that more than 1,500 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled onto the ground and affected Edwards Creek. Stream testing was immediately established and will continue until further directed by EPD. The ground affected by the spill has been cleaned up and treated with lime. Public notice signs have also been posted around the spill site.
EPD was notified on Saturday, December 13, 2025. The City of Commerce is taking all necessary precautions and complying with EPD guidelines.
